Q: Why have you not filmed all streets?

A: We use images from Google Street View and they have not added all streets…but nearly all.

Q: If a patient cannot cycle, can they still use jDome BikeAround?

A: Yes, of course, as the “travel buddy” can help by directing the computer.

Q: Is such a large screen really needed? Doesn’t it work just as well with a TV?

A: The wraparound shape of the screen stimulates the senses causing different effects. For example, users have noticed that memories can be triggered even in dementia patients. To achieve the same wraparound effect on a flat screen, it would need one that is 8 metres wide.

Q: How often is the software updated?
A: It is continually updated as needed, so we recommend that you never close down your computer but only put it into sleep mode by closing the lid.

Q: How can we find the time for such an activity? At the elderly persons care home where I work, we don’t have time for such things

A: We give training in implementation and the importance of including user time in an implementation plan. We understand that it takes time to get into a new routine for revolutionary assistive technology, but our clients feel that they have the chance to create time by using jDome BikeAround.

Q: Can we rent a jDome before making a final decision?
A: We have thoroughly satisfactory results from renting out a jDome BikeAround before procurement. Contact us and we’ll tell you more!

Q: I have heard that jDome can cause really bad motion sickness, is this true?
A: It can be true in a few cases, but most often it is the “travel buddy”, and not the user, who becomes travel sick. Our new software reduces the risk considerably, but if it does happen, we recommend the following:

  1. Cycle shorter tours each time (max. 1 minute) so that users and travel buddies can get used to the experience.
  1. Travel buddies look at the little computer screen instead.

Q: What is the most common purpose for using jDome BikeAround?

A: It is evenly divided between dementia care, somatic care and fitness activities. Disabled persons are catching up quickly though.
